Besides experience and pricing, why use this service?
Home Test kits
- Although inexpensive, these types of chemical tests are often unreliable with
many “false positive” test results. - Leaves chemical residue that must be washed after each swab
- These “one-time, one-toy” swabs often require rubbing for up to 2 minutes
for readable results. How many swabs would you have to use for all your
children’s toys, and how long would it take you?
Technology
- The Thermo Scientific XRF analyzer is non-destructive to the products
tested and uses the latest x-ray technology that provides near
instantaneous results - Can test surface or buried within the object itself (and may not be harmful)
- The device used is the same as those purchased by the Consumer Product
Safety Commission to test products against the federal government
standards.
No county services
- County public health services will not inspect a home unless there is a
diagnosed clinical case of lead poisoning reported to them. Unless a
positive blood test is reported, they will not conduct any type of inspection
for you. These agencies simply do not have the money and/or resources to
act in proactive manner. - Blood lead tests are not standard procedure by pediatricians and poisoning
often occurs without outward symptoms that can go undetected.
Additional services
- Additional tests; the analyzer used for lead also test for 20 other potentially
hazardous substances that are also provided in the report - Retest; if at any time in the future, you would like your home re-tested, I will
do so at a reduced cost. - If you have additional questions about other health hazards, such as toxic
chemicals or biologic hazards (foods, pesticides, etc.), I will be happy to
answer them for you over the phone at no charge. If I cannot quickly
address your question, I will research the topic and get back to you with my
assessment as soon as possible.
